TREASURE & GEMS
Objectives: A comprehensive intervention package that includes Parent Consultation and Psychological intervention.
Typical Annual Number of Sessions: 12-26 Virtual or Site Delivery
Overview:
-
For the work of Treasure Keepers to be most impactful and to foster significant change, GEMS psychological therapy must be fully integrated with TREASURE therapeutic parenting.
-
TREASURE sessions provide a tailored framework for therapeutic parenting interventions, specifically designed to meet the unique needs of each child within their family, based on thorough assessments.
-
It is important to recognize that the greatest influence on trauma resilience and recovery lies with the Parents and Carers. They deliver the essential daily care that transforms the bodies, brains, and relationships of their young people.
-
Ultimately, Parents and Carers who are skilled in daily therapeutic parenting and informed by their Young Person’s therapies can facilitate the 'fix/move toward recovery or resilience.'
-
This 'fix/move toward recovery or resilience' is not achieved by merely having the child attend psychological therapy sessions for a few hours each month.
-
Instead, psychological therapy offers a space to explore behaviors and emotions and to practice strategies for self-regulation.
-
GEMS Joint sessions typically involve both Children and their Parents/Carers.. These sessions provide an opportunity for 'live practice' of the interventions recommended in the TREASURE sessions and to foster attachment relationships.
